Transfer Ownership or Dispose of a Firearm or Shotgun

If you are selling or transferring a firearm or shotgun please use the link on how to identify a genuine certificate. Carrying out checks to make sure that the buyer's firearm certificate is genuine.

We will need the following information sent to firearmsapplications@northumbria.police.uk

• Your name
• Date of Birth
• Home address
• Your certificate number
• Details of weapon including calibre, action, make, serial number
• Who you sold or received the weapon from including name, and certificate number
• The date when the transaction was completed

Apply for a certificate to travel with a firearm or shotgun to the UK

You will need a sponsor to apply for a visitor’s permit on your behalf, they must be a UK resident.

The application takes up to 6 weeks to process. Please ask your sponsor to download and complete the below form.

Application for a Visitor's Firearm/Shot Gun Permit form (Form 107).

They will need the following to complete the form.

• A copy of your current firearms certificate or European Firearms Pass.
• Details of where your firearms or shotguns will be store while in the UK.
• Details of the ammunition you will be using.

Costs

• Application for up to five people is £47 per person.
• Application for a group (between six and twenty people) £233.

Apply for a certificate to travel with a firearm or shotgun from UK to another country

Please contact the British embassy, consulate or high commission in the country you are travelling to. They will be able to advise you as what you have to do.

You will also need to contact your airline or travel company to inform them that you wish to travel with a firearm or shotgun.
